17-Year-Old Toronto Author Takes Inspirational “Book Talk” to GTA High Schools

For Immediate Release:

Toronto, December 5, 2012:  Since its launch at The Word On The Street in September, Wingheart: Luminous Rock, the 680-page YA fantasy novel by Toronto teen author Benjamin Gabbay, has received an enthusiastic response with many audiences, including the Toronto Public Library, which has ordered copies for 18 of its branches.

Now the author is inspiring high school students in the GTA with a presentation about his experiences with writing and publishing the book. He has already spoken at Lester B. Pearson Collegiate Institute in Scarborough, as well as at Western Technical-Commercial School in Toronto. On December 6th, he will also present his talk to students at David and Mary Thomson Collegiate Institute in Scarborough. “I could see from the students’ attentiveness and thoughtful questions that they were engaged throughout your presentation,” wrote Natasha Serba, teacher-librarian at Lester B. Pearson C.I. in a follow-up note to the author. “In addition to the insights you offered into story development, writing, revising, and publishing, your experience speaks directly to the importance of following your dreams, the role of mentors, taking initiative, and not being sidetracked by doubt or discouragement.”

On December 21, 2012, Benjamin Gabbay will be a guest on the Rogers TV Daytime Toronto show.
